Soapbox Derby Coming to Harrow

Essex – The Town of Essex is thrilled to partner with the Rotary Club of Harrow to host the Town’s first Soapbox Derby! Join us for a fun-filled day of races and family-friendly activities including a bouncy castle and kid-friendly activities.
Date: June 24, 2023
Time: 8a.m. to 4p.m.
Location: King Street, Harrow

“We are excited to bring the Soapbox Derby to the streets of Harrow for the first time!” said Sherry Bondy, Mayor. “I encourage our youth to get creative and enter this unique event. It is sure to be a fun time for all.”
Individuals interested in racing are asked to contact the Homebuilt Soapbox Racing Association for details and registration.
All vehicles/racers must meet the following regulations:
- Open to individuals 6 to 16 years of age.
- Vehicle must be no wider than 36 inches.
- Vehicle must be no longer than 7 feet.
- Vehicle must be at least 6 inches off ground.
- Vehicle cannot be taller than 36 inches.
- Car and driver must weigh less than 200lbs combined.
- Vehicle must have 4 wheels and working brakes.
- All drivers must have a helmet (bicycle, hockey, atv, etc.)
