Essex A message from Mayor Sherry Bondy:

Dear Residents of the Town of Essex,

Over the past few months, our community has been put to the test by a series of severe weather events, including the back-to-back storms that struck our region on August 23 and 24. The impact of these events has been felt by us all, and on behalf of Council and Administration, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the struggles and hardships that many of you have endured. We understand the frustration and uncertainty that can come with such situations.

Amidst the challenges, I am inspired by the remarkable acts of kindness and community spirit that have emerged during these trying times. I have heard countless stories of neighbours, service clubs, and businesses all working together to lend a helping hand. These selfless acts truly represent the pride that we share for this community that we call home.

I would also like to acknowledge our incredible staff who moved quickly to monitor the Town’s infrastructure and mediate damage across the municipality to ensure the safety of all. Our regional partners also worked diligently to support our community and restore utilities.

We encourage anyone who has experienced damage to their property to reach out to their insurance provider as soon as possible to begin remediation efforts.

In the coming weeks, GFL Environmental Inc. will be collecting additional items during regularly scheduled garbage pick-up. Collection specifications are available on our website at www.essex.ca. Please be patient as their hardworking crews make their way to the many properties around the region who have been affected by the storm.

Thank you for your unwavering spirit and dedication to the Town of Essex.

Sincerely,

Sherry Bondy
Mayor of the Town of Essex
